Sunday Evening

Both Jason and I have been quite remiss in our daily picture posting.

I was sick last week, so being stuck inside doesn’t do much for inspiration or motivation, and neither does -25 weather.

Last night I was feeling better and finally pulled out my trusty iPhone camera to take some shots.

So, as an apology, here are some pictures of things that made my Sunday evening a little bit better.

Candle

A delicious vanilla sugar cookie scented candle.

Do One Thing A Day That Scares You

My water bottle reminding me to do one thing a day that scares me. After taking this picture I signed up for the 28-day yoga challenge at the Hot Yoga Lounge. February will be the month of yoga (and sweat).

Home Made Chai

Some amazing homemade chai concentrate. It’s totally worth it to follow this recipe and make your own. Yum!

Mockingjay Cover

The cover of the latest book I was reading, Mockingjay, the third book in the Hunger Games series. I stayed up way too late last night finishing the book, but it was worth it.

We may have fallen off a bit on pictures and posting in the later half of January, but I think both Jason and I are rested and revived and ready to start taking pictures again.

Bling

Again, the cold and the snow is messing with my desire and ability to take some stellar photos for y’all.

Instead, you get a somewhat creepy picture of my finger – and a totally gorgeous ring I found in Mexico.

Thank goodness this cold snap will be over by Monday, I’m getting sick of being cooped up indoors and being forced to run on the treadmill.

Sweater

I was feeling a bit stuck last night. I really wasn’t sure what to take a picture of. No daylight and I ran inside, so I wasn’t even able to pull out the iPhone if I had a neat picture while walking home from my run. (Walking home in -20 from runs is no fun, hence why I ran indoors).

As we were sitting on the couch watching the Biggest Loser (okay, I was watching, Jason was napping) I thought I’d see how a picture of Jason’s sweater turned out. Personally, I think it’s really neat.

I’m quite impressed by the different filters the iPhone has for photos. We’ve even talked about printed a bunch of my iPhone photos to put up on the wall in a funky photo collage. Now we just need to find the time to do it 🙂

Wine two ways

Both Jason and I are finding it somewhat difficult to find something to take a picture of everyday. If the weather would cooperate, I’m sure we’d be out walking, taking pictures of tree, flowers, birds, the sky, etc.

Calgary in the winter is not very conducive to taking interesting photos. How many pictures of snow can one person take?

Note: I’ve taken zero pictures of snow to date. I just can’t bring myself to do it. I hate snow.

Please, stick with us for a bit. We’re both coming off a really long and busy fall and are looking for inspiration daily. Until then, enjoy the picture of the bottle of wine we enjoyed on Monday 🙂

Dinner

Marking exams for 12 hours on Saturday got in the way of any picture taking. All I wanted to do was crawl into bed, but I did force myself to go for a quick 5km run after getting home 🙂

I’ll try and make it up sometime during the week with some awesome pictures (I’m already beating Jason – he has yet to post a picture!).

Again, I was lazy today and used my iPhone to take a picture of some veggies I cut up for our dinner this evening.

BONUS: An iPhone picture Jason took with my phone.

Sequins

I’m a bit behind on posting pictures this weekend. It’s been crazy, I spent all day Saturday and Sunday marking exams.

This is a picture of the sequins on my sparkley shirt I wore to work on Friday. My boss even commented on how “bright” it was. I think it was the prefect thing to wear on a Friday!

Taken with the Hipstamatic iPhone app.

Whisk

Whisk

This whisk is used to make matcha tea and I love it (the tea, not the whisk).

With the weight gain associated with The Holidays and our trip to Mexico, I think it’s time to say good-bye to nightly dessert and hello to nightly matcha tea.

Confession: I ate a Nanaimo bar before making matcha last night, so I really wasn’t that healthy.

Seasoning

Last night Jason and I took his parents out for dinner at Rush before heading to the Jubilee to see Joe Satriani in concert.
We were all really impressed with the decor in Rush as well as the food and wine (Why is it that 1 bottle never quite seems to be enough for 4 people, but 2 bottles would be way too much. Anyone up for petitioning to 1L bottles at restaurants?).
I wasn’t able to limit myself to just one photo last night, so here are 2 extras for you 🙂

Centre Piece

All photos are taken with the Hipstamatic iPhone app. Who says you need a DSLR to take awesome pictures?! 🙂

Seeds

Seeds

This necklace is made out of different seeds that are collected, dried and painted different colours. Jason and I found it when we were wandering around Playa del Carmen when in Mexico over Christmas. This necklace fit the weather in Mexico perfectly and is a little bit of cheerfulness to get me through until Spring. (Can you tell I’m not a winter person?)

Until Next Year

Jason and I put away our Christmas decorations late this year. We weren’t here for Christmas, but had family in town afterwards and wanted to keep our tree up until they came so it would feel a bit Christmassy at our place for a few days.

It was finally time to put our decorations away and make some more space in our condo, so I took this picture of one of our Nutcrackers before putting it away until next Christmas.
