Seeds

This necklace is made out of different seeds that are collected, dried and painted different colours. Jason and I found it when we were wandering around Playa del Carmen when in Mexico over Christmas. This necklace fit the weather in Mexico perfectly and is a little bit of cheerfulness to get me through until Spring. (Can you tell I’m not a winter person?)

Until Next Year

Jason and I put away our Christmas decorations late this year. We weren’t here for Christmas, but had family in town afterwards and wanted to keep our tree up until they came so it would feel a bit Christmassy at our place for a few days.

It was finally time to put our decorations away and make some more space in our condo, so I took this picture of one of our Nutcrackers before putting it away until next Christmas.

Winter Cheer

After coming back from Mexico to a snow storm I was in need of some cheer. Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot of cheer to be found in wintry Calgary in January. I decided the fake cherry blossom flowers Jason and I have would have to do for now.

I’m hoping Spring comes early this year.

Remnants of a Brunch

Jason and I had his parents, and his brother’s family over for a New Years Day brunch this morning. These champagne glasses are what was leftover at 7pm this evening after we stuffed ourselves with mimosa’s, bacon, fruit and cinnamon buns.

Even though we didn’t start brunch until 11am, we were awake at 8:30am because we’re old. We barely even made it to midnight last night – just poured the champagne and poured ourselves into bed.

So far, it looks like 2011 should be a pretty good year.

New Years Eve Sunrise

Can it be called New Years Eve if the picture was taken the morning of?

Friday was a chilly morning and I was up early getting ready to make cinnamon buns with a friend and when I looked out the window, I couldn’t resist taking a picture (or 12!) or the sunrise.
